Last Saturday, 20th July, saw the opening of the long awaited Retrospective Exhibition of Christopher Hall’s Italian paintings at the Spazio Cultura Gallery in Recanati. Called “Dall’Ingilterra alla Citta dell’Infinito” (From England to the City of Infinity), the inauguration was well attended. Among those present was the Mayor of Recanati, Antonio Bravi, and the Councillor of Culture Rita Soccio, who both made warmly appreciative speeches.
The retrospective comprises around 90 paintings produced over the sixty years between 1954 to 2014. It shows the development of Christopher’s style over the more than thirty visits he made to the area from his early days after graduating from the Slade School of Art to his last visit in 2011. In addition to the paintings are numerous sketchbooks and photographs.
